This photo was taken in the morning of October 5th, 2011, just hours after the news of Steven Paul Job’s passing away broke, in front of the Apple Store Fifth Avenue in New York. While some of the mourners lay down bouquets of flowers in front of the wooden wall to pay tribute to “Steve”, many brought apples with them – some of whom even took a bite to reflect the iconic Apple logo. It is a moment in which everyone seems paralyzed and trapped in this sad, historic point in time, and yet deeply compassionate with the people around them. Thus, electrified by an unequivocal sense of togetherness, many of the visitors took out their own camera in a quest to capture this unique scene for eternity, thereby photographing each other. The photographer on the left plays a major role in capturing the mutual empathy, sparked by the power of the moment in the middle of the Big Apple at the beating pulse of the times.
